We met him crossing the road in Recoleta. Asked if we could take a photo of him and he was very obliging. It was tough because the sun was coming from behind; we wanted him to move so that we could get better light, but he couldn’t understand us and we couldn’t understand him and it seemed like he just really wanted to hold on to that pole and face that particular way. How do you say “this is my good side” in Spanish?

He was wandering around Recoleta near the cemetary with an old-fashioned (like 1920s old) camera selling potraits. He asked if he could take our picture and then we asked if we could take his.

we were in the main square in colonia, uruguay. he really wanted both of the dogs to look at the camera. we tried a few times, but they just wouldn’t.

This couple moved to Mexico 25 years ago and was just back visiting Buenos Aires, which they do from time to time. We walked with them for a bit and they introduced us to their favourite restaurant, Munich Recoleta, which has been around for more than 50 years. Had a great meal there.

This guy was super keen. He orchestrated an entire photo shoot.

Met him on a Sunday morning in Recoleta. He seemed pretty happy when we asked to take his photo. Got quite a few shots but they all look exactly the same - this must be his blue steel look.

Met him on Campbell Street in Surry Hills just sitting outside under a tree. Was really happy to be photographed and smiled when he saw the pics. He didn’t say a word, but his teeth said it all.
