This is Poppy. He lives just outside of Gander, Newfoundland. He is 80. He still builds houses, bakes and cleans, and is very competent on his laptop.

We met him crossing the road in Recoleta. Asked if we could take a photo of him and he was very obliging. It was tough because the sun was coming from behind; we wanted him to move so that we could get better light, but he couldn’t understand us and we couldn’t understand him and it seemed like he just really wanted to hold on to that pole and face that particular way. How do you say “this is my good side” in Spanish?
“I’d like to travel a bit more; the only travelling we had was in the troupe ships, everything was blacked out. I’d like to be able to have one of those holiday things.”

We think he just hangs outside of the pizza place waiting to get his photo taken.
Met him on a Sunday morning in Recoleta. He seemed pretty happy when we asked to take his photo. Got quite a few shots but they all look exactly the same - this must be his blue steel look.
